THIS IS A LANGUAGE INTEGRATED SPECIAL ACTIVITY

IMPORTANT NOTES:

a) Please read carefully all the indications of this work. All of the questions and assignments are related to the articles and cultural notes you will be reading. These activities are divided in 3 blocks: reading comprehension, grammar & vocabulary, and writing. Is the 20% of your final grade

6. Your printed activities in order to do all of them.

b) Be careful with presentation: (Print, neatness, a folder, front page with the title, your full name and code, etc.) Your handwriting and your spelling will be graded, too.

c) You must print this work, and answer completely for Wednesday 16th. Of June, 2010. You must work during classes (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). Or you can work at home, and bring it completely and correct, on Wednesday 16th.

PART I. READING COMPREHENSION.

A. PREREADING. SMILEY FACE.

The article refers to people’s “inner Smile Face”. The Smile Face is a yellow circle with two black dots for eyes and a curve line for a mouth. It has been famous all over the world since the 1970s. The trademark is held by Franklin Loufrani of London. There are, however, two other people who claim to have invented it. Digital versions of the smiley face are popular and several word-processing programs automatically transform the emoticon formed with a colon and a right parentheses into.



B. READING. Read the article form your Hemispheres book “Put it to the test” of page 120. Answer the next questions.

Last year, my husband and I left our jobs as librarians at a university to start the Blue mountains Dog Training Center. Our friends thought we were totally crazy! But they’ve been convinced of that ever since we got our first dog. Five years ago, we found Rowdy next to the highway. We took him home because we were afraid he would be killed. He’s big, more than 50 kgs, and we knew he needed a lot of training. We learned as much as we could, and then we started training other people’s dogs, and we realized that working with dogs was a lot nicer than working with people. We have a very important goal for our business. We want to make the world a better place –for dogs!- Tasha Beckworth.

Hola, les recuerdo que el último día para entregar su script (writing) es el Jueves 15 de Abril estarémos checando durante la semana por si tienen alguna duda, y el último día para el Video es el 16 de Abril (oral)de igual manera tendrás los primeros días de la semana para pulir detalles, aclarar dudas, o agregarle algo más.
